Therapeutic Massage

Massage can help you inhabit your body differently. It can help you to relax and release tensions, supporting the nervous system so you are better able to rest. It can be used to release long held tensions that are causing pain or stiffness. Massage increases blood flow which can help to move stagnation and support healing. It can also encourage the mind body connection, helping to create a feeling of being more ‘in’ your body.

Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy uses essential oils, highly concentrated oils from plants, herbs and trees, that work therapeutically both as an aromatic remedy and through the skin. They continue working on the body after the massage is over. Aromatic remedies have been used for thousands of years to affect our physical and emotional states. The practitioner studies many plants to enable them to create a unique blend that is specific to a person and their current needs.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release works specifically with the fascia, a net like structure that holds everything in the body. It is extremely lubricated and should feel pliable and elastic, moving smoothly under the skin and over the muscles. Instead, it can become tight, particularly due to adhesions/scar tissue, injury, ongoing chronic pain or trauma. This can cause pain that may seem muscular but is in fact held in the fascia. The therapist will feel for stiff or tighter areas and work there, which can be different to where the pain is felt most prominently. They will work in conversation with you to create specific sensations that release the fascia. Myofascial release also works to lessen the visual and physical effects of scar tissue and with trauma that's held in the body.

Whatever practice you choose, you will have a conversation with Ju and make a plan to ensure the best possible treatment on the day. You will also receive home care advice.
